Snowboarding at Mount St. Louis
A few guys rounded up the office crew for some skiing/snowboarding at Mount St. Louis, a winter resort in Barrie about 1.5 hours drive north of Toronto. This was timely since I was really planning on going up there and hitting the slopes…as a beginner on a snowboard. This office thing saved me the cost of a car rental not to mention getting
great company.
The weather could not have been better. Even the veterans were saying the temperature was just right and the powder light, fluffy and deep. $55 for a full day's adventure complete with equipment rental, unlimited lift use and lessons - not bad. Equipped with wrist guards and knee pads (yeah, I'd rather look dorky than hurt my knees/wrists again like the year before) I was ready to hammer down and wipe out - which I did many times. At the end of the day, I was beat…happily beat. I needed some fun like that. Besides, by spring, mountain biking season starts up and there'll be events and races every weekend until October. So yeah, now's a good time to get some snowboarding action and hit the snow.
