Europe - Day 5 / Geneva, Switzerland

UP Democratization Program

I woke up at 12noon, prepared an omelet breakfast and was on my way to walk to Gare Cornavin where I paid $7 again for internet connection (argh!). I also purchased my bullet train ticket to Paris on May 9. I walked to the UN to meet with Kishore. He will pick me up at the Gare-de-Lyon in Paris when I arrive. I stay there until the 14th. Ginny and I walked home. I prepared Kai-yang chicken for dinner.

I started reading up on Lyon and Marseilles, my next 2 gastronomic destinations. There is a place in Marseilles serving authentic bouillabaisse, but at F350 - F500 per person, looks like I'll have to just view it from the window.

Ginny and I talked about UP...how the academic standard has diminished because of the democratization program. Students from some obscure barrio garners enough points as a minority and gets into UP but doesn't really have what it takes. Ultimately, he drops out. Meanwhile, students from Ateneo are not able to get in. He is penalized in effect for being privileged.
