With backpacking, I'm on auto-pilot when entering my new room - set up the clothes line (coz I do my laundry with every shower), wrap my backpack in the wire mesh bag (PacSafe), transfer my 'walking about' stuff to my daypack (water, trail mix, mess kit, spoon and fork, Swiss Army knife, etc.). Once set up, I leave the room and begin my day outside.
