Nunelucio Alvarado's Art Exhibit at Art19b Gallery
It was a night of visual and gastronomic feasting at Cubao Expo's art scene. My restaurantrice, curator, art collector friend, Carina, hosted an exhibit of one of the country's recognizable painter, Nunelucio 'Noni' Alvarado at her comfy art space, Art19b.

With Carina at the helm, it wasn't surprising that a nice spread was elegantly laid out serving TexMex only Carina's epicurean taste could muster. Food served by Carina is worth walking a mile for....which makes me question my motives for attending - food or art? And as I'm writing this question, the answer just popped up. It's actually Carina herself. Hilarious, audacious, calls a spade a spade, and ever so gracious, Carina is an occasion all to herself.
Nunelucio Alvarado
Noni was accomodating and candid making no pretension whatsoever about life as an artist. He took us back to his early days as a propaganda artist against the Marcos regime during the First Quarter storm. He remembered fondly how he served jail time together with other activists and how eventually, they developed friendship with their jailers. They would play basketball together and hang out. He got his break when his works was exhibited at the CCP. From thereon, he saw continued recognition of his art to the increasing interest of the public both local and international.
