December 14, 2005 Thursday
UP Lantern Parade
The season has increasingly been getting festive. The
academic oval was closed to motor vehicles to allow the people to rummage freely to the many booths lined along its perimeter. Student orgs, colleges and vendors strutted their wares to the curious onlookers.
Marking the official start of the holidays, the annual Lantern Parade kicked off with a cool array of animated masks - this year's theme. The College of Fine Arts was the only college to be the official lantern-parading college this year. It used to be represented by all the colleges, but given the lean times, it became optional. Nonetheless, a good number floats and masks were on display as the parade made its round along the oval to
packed spectators.
