Mag:net, I Love You Store and the Government
Mag:net Amongst all the bars in Quezon City, I'm partial to Mag:net. It's the closest one from UP. On Tuesday nights, you get a beer and 5 bands for P100. It's a chill crowd too. Owner and painter Rock Drillon keeps a tight ship making sure everyone's having a good time.
Tonight, they're opening their renovated ground floor to accomodate a full on gallery. Before, it was a magazine store with a token space for art. It's the other way around this time. The layout is much better. Works by Vinluan, a former colleague from the College of Fine Art, graced a few of the many art on display.
Drip, the band, was slated to play that evening. The vibe was very promising. I would have stayed for that, but there were a few more things lined up elsewhere.
I Love You Store They used to be located on the 2nd floor of the Saguijo Bar in Antonio Village. Now, they have a new basement home along Makati Avenue. The store is home to deconstructed clothing any bohemian would crave for. Fashion rules here. They party every time but hold only 2 major gatherings - Valentine and Halloween.
This party was doing it for me. Crowd was chill and alive.
Everyone was wearing a smile...well, almost everyone. It's okay to talk to whoever.
Alex was fab mixing rum/coke for us peeps.
Ulap had her artwork on display. A newfound acquaintance,
Kat, was telling me she belts out Janis Joplin songs for Wally Gonzales...yes, Wally of Juan dela Cruz fame. Vibe was good all over.
The Government I met Rina from the I Love You Store and intimated her sister was partying next door at the Government. It was an exclusive office function. But there's more! Booze, chow and House music...time to migrate. Yeah, the music was reminiscent of the club scene I used to do in Toronto. The word was DANCE DANCE DANCE....Burning Man style!
Ending Thoughts With 3 parties going on that night, I was on cloud 9. I didn't realise I haven't partyed in a while...too long a while. Meeting some really chill peeps, dancing and drinking the night away...yeah, hope it happens again.
