Yuletide Season in Manila
Location: Metro-Manila, Philippines
Dad
After 7 months in Cebu, it was time to head up to Manila to spend the holidays with my Dad who is recovering from his cancer treatment. With limited time left before he heads up to his other residency, we made the most of the available time in conversation, catching up on life's latest offerings. We now talk like old friends, sharing insights and trading stories. It was good, and perhaps an urgent bonding.

Blues
Manila is unique for the Blues. In Southeast Asia, even with all other cities in the Philippines, you don't see Blues the way they play it here. I show up at the Blues community gatherings and bond with old friends - Elwyn, Vehm, etc. and meet new faces. Looming high and mighty in the Blues scene is the Ian Lofamia Band. I'm a Blues groupie for the group, following them on every gig and still can't get enough of it.
Meditation, Yoga and Theosophy
I've also touched base with my Vipassana group where Jeff invited me to similar sits - the Plum Village sit in the tradition of Zen monk Thich Nhat Hahn and the Terravada Fellowship sit in Wisdom Park. I've met new people who now shape my looming horizon. I've been invited to the next meeting of the Theosophical Society in the coming year. This scene brings promise of continued evolution should I stay in Manila longer.
